• Zimbardo's Heroic Imagination Project - features 6 social psychology topics (e.g., the bystander effect) in which social factors influence individual behavior. Each presentation informs the audience with ways to recognize these situations and react in a more constructive manner. While Zimbardo's HIP organization charges for access to these materials, we've used them enough to learn that having students learn and present psychological topics to others can be an excellent service-learning activity and a unique way to share psychology with the lay public. We can certainly develop our own materials and make them available if there is interest.

 

• Jon Skalski at Rockford University created a video of a crime, and involved his students in several aspects of dealing with the police to show how memory may not be as good as we might assume.  You can see his blog post (including a link to the news video) at http://nobaproject.com/blog/2017-03-30-demo-lishing-misconceptions-in-general-psychology-with-demos .  Consider doing something similar in your community.
